Energy Conservation & Renewables
The standard of living, which we enjoy or aspire to in the developed world, is consuming resources at a rate which the earth cannot sustain, let alone enable those in the developing world to raise their quality of life to an acceptable level. Energy is what drives our way of life, through the manufacture of goods to maintain the drive for economic growth, to the ever-increasing demand for travel. Much of that energy still comes from fossil fuels, which produce greenhouse gases and contribute to climate change.
The challenge is to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels through the development of renewable energy sources and, at the same time, reduce the demand for energy through conservation measures.
